Energy Solutions

The use of fossil fuels to heat and cool our buildings and homes produces about 30% of Maine’s greenhouse gas emissions. Transitioning our energy needs away from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources is key to reducing Waldo County’s contribution to climate change.

The Energy Solutions Committee focuses on helping Waldo County residents, especially those with lower incomes, save home heating and cooling costs by transitioning to renewable, lower emission energy sources, including:
  • Weatherization
  • Heat pumps
  • Heat pump hot water heaters
  • Other energy-saving steps.

How We're Taking Action

  • Helping residents identify ways to increase their home’s energy efficiency and increase comfort in their homes
  • Promoting special Efficiency Maine programs and incentives, with equity focus on whole-home heat pump systems for mobile homes
  • Suggesting free or low-cost window inserts through Window Dressers
  • Extending outreach to all 25 towns within Waldo County.
  • Get details on the ducted heat pump program for mobile homes.
