Energy Solutions

The use of fossil fuels to generate the electricity to heat and cool our buildings produces about 30% of Maine’s greenhouse gas emissions. Transitioning our energy needs away from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources is key to reducing Waldo County’s contribution to climate change.

WCCAC’s Energy Solutions group is energetically working on plans for helping Waldo County citizens take a comprehensive approach to upgrading their homes, including weatherization, heat pumps, heat pump hot water heaters and other energy saving steps.

How We're Taking Action

  • Exploring the creation of an Energy Coach program which will help residents identify ways to increase their home’s energy efficiency, saving them money, increasing comfort in their homes, and reducing their carbon footprint.
  • Promoting Efficiency Maine programs & incentives to … In the works: Developing support for Efficiency Maine single wide program for ducted heat pumps - waiting for EM to announce next round of funding, hopefully in July.
  • Window Dressers …
  • City of Belfast’s Climate Action Plan and updating greenhouse gas inventory
  • Educational outreach on solar solutions, weatherization, …
